Welcome to the Kerwin Values Survey!

The Kerwin Values Survey, or "KVS" for short, is designed to help you identify those attributes of work that will most satisfy you and motivate you. Those attributes are known as your career values.

The KVS includes an online deck of career values cards, such as "be independent" or "have flexible hours." You'll be sorting each card into one of the following categories:

  • Must have in my work – for career values you find absolutely essential to have in your work.
  • Would like to have in my work – for career values you'd like to have in your work, but that aren't absolutely essential.
  • Want to avoid in my work – for career values you want to avoid having in your work.
  • Not important in my work – for career values you don't find important to have in your work.

In addition, you'll have the opportunity to create your own, individualized values, if you'd like.

When you're finished sorting your cards, you'll receive a "Values Summary & Congruence Worksheet" to use for evaluating career options. You'll also receive a guide for interpreting and using your KVS results.

Before you begin sorting, a few things to remember:

  • The KVS takes approximately one hour to complete. Take the KVS in a distraction-free environment, at a relatively stress-free time.
  • Once you've entered your access code, you'll have 48 hours to complete your KVS assessment, and can access the KVS three times within that period.
  • When you've finished the KVS, you'll need access to a printer to print a copy of your KVS documents.
  • Hang on to your KVS access code! You'll need it if you want to re-enter the KVS site later.
